It's about YOU!

We are excited to launch our Policy and Politics blog. You can expect to find up-to-date news about policy at the state and federal level which will impact Kansas public schools. If it's hot political news in Kansas, you'll find it here. Most importantly, we want to start a conversation which educates, enlightens, and amuses our readers. The political landscape in Kansas is in your hands, and that landscape determines the policy we will all have to live with.

Send us your thoughts, tips, and ideas. Converse with one another here. Enjoy!

Education is not a bleeding-heart issue; it is a national security issue.

Our ability to maintain our freedom and our way of life is completely dependent on our ability to maintain a technological advantage over real and potential adversaries. Cutting education funds, dumbing down curriculum and denying science are the quickest and most certain ways to erode that advantage.

Education is also critical to our economic well-being.

"If the United States is to compete against lower-cost skilled workforces available in China and India, we must educate a 'value-added' workforce that is worth the additional cost because it offers skills that corporations need but cannot get elsewhere."
-- G. Wayne Clough, President, Georgia Tech University
